Mary Quinn Qualifies for State

Mary Quinn, current freshman at Resurrection High School and 2014 graduate of St Thecla, qualified for State in the High Jump on Friday. Mary jumped 5′ which is her best jump of the season.

High Jump is a new event to the freshman as it is not one of our events. That fact just makes it that much more an impressive feat.

Mary was an excellent distance runner during her time with the Falcons. She also did very well in the long jump as well as being part of some very impressive relay teams.

Best of luck to Mary next week.

Varsity Boys & Girls Meet #2 Results (4/26/2015)

Both the varsity girls and boys used the second meet of the season to improve. The varsity girls once again took first place overall and the varsity boys moved up a spot and have a chance to finish in the top five next week.

The relay teams did very well again. We place six relay teams. The girls finished second and fourth in the 4×400 as well as 4×100 relays. The boys took second in the 4×400 and sixth in the 4×100.

Those receiving individual metals: Joey Salemme (100m), Patty Gleason (400, 1600), Annie Quinn (1600), Alex Trekas (Long Jump, 100) Mary Claire Weber (100, 400), Claire Anderson (400, shot put), Gabriella O’Hehir (400, shot put), Morgan McCarthy (shot put), Summer Rocha (long jump) and Mary Kate Borner (long jump).

JV Boys & Girls Meet #2 Results (4/26/2015)

Meet #1 was a great way to start the season and Meet #2 was even better. Both JV teams were able to walk away with first place after our second meet of the season and are primed to bring home the conference championship next week.

Like last week the relay teams continue to excel. The girls took first while the boys took second in the 4×400 relay. For the 4×100 relay both boys and girls place two teams. Girls took first and third while the boys won first and fifth.

Probably the biggest individual standout was Jimmie Fidanzio, who wasn’t at track meet #1. Jimmie placed first the javelin and 200 while taking third in the long jump. He was also part of the top 4×100 relay. Brendan Borner also took home metals in the 200 and long jump. For the girls, Emily Schutt and Shea Lynch continue to do well in the 100 & 200 m runs while Sarah Torrez placed in both the 800 and long jump.

Also taking home medals in individual events: Gabby Brosnan (800), Eddie Gleason (javelin), Matt Dietz (long Jump), Andrew Kottl (200), Patrick Quinn (800) and Johnny McCarthy (800).
