Ms. Kalkirtz is a graduate of Dominican University with a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education, with an ISBE Approval in Special Education. She also has a Minor in Psychology. Prior to teaching, she worked at a Special Recreation Association leading programs for children and adults who have special needs. She has been involved in many choirs throughout her life and incorporates music into her teaching, often. The behavior management approach that she uses is called, “Positive Discipline in the Classroom,” and this approach focuses on children becoming problem-solvers and emphasizing positivity in and out of the classroom setting.
