Mrs. Kathleen Becker has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Psychology from Northeastern Illinois University, as well as an ESL endorsement from National Lewis University. She is currently working on an Early Childhood Special Education endorsement that will lead to a Master of Education degree. She holds an Illinois Standard Early Childhood Type 04 certificate with an endorsement in ESL. Mrs. Becker is also a certified Catechist within the Archdiocese of Chicago. Mrs. Becker has been teaching at Saint Thecla since 2015. This is her first year teaching Kindergarten at Saint Thecla. Previously, Mrs. Becker taught Pre-K at Saint Thecla from 2015-2016. Before Saint Thecla, Mrs. Becker worked at Glenview Willowbrook District 30 School as a Special Education Teacher Assistant for two years, was a First Grade teacher at Saint Hilary School for eight years, and taught Kindergarten at Saint Ferdinand for a three years. Mrs. Becker’s Kindergarten classroom goals are to develop an inclusive, safe, and fun learning environment. Mrs. Becker places a special emphasis on creating a community of learners and developing her students’ social skills as well as achieving their academic goals. She feels all students deserve the opportunity to reach their highest potential and uses teaching to empower children.
