Why We Choose St. Thecla
A Parents Question and Answer
St. Thecla’s curriculum is built around the Chicago Archdiocesan Standards. Additionally, in 2013, our 1:1 iPad curriculum was rolled out in which all students in 5th – 8th grade receive an IPad which is theirs to keep after graduation. This successful implementation has rolled into our classrooms which are now interactive with iPad and Whiteboard set-ups. Shared iPads and Chromebooks as well as whiteboards are used in grades Preschool through fourth grade. Preschool through eighth grade students attend our foreign language program, Spanish. Religion is taught five days a week and students attend weekly Mass as a student body.
St. Thecla is blessed with dedicated faculty who are committed to Catholic education. Many of our staff hold advanced degrees and all are Illinois State Certified. Our staff continues to grow professionally through certified development and continuing education courses. In addition to classroom teachers, St. Thecla also has primary aides and a resource team for both advancement and intervention. A small school promotes an environment where students are more visible, involved and given more leadership opportunities. Students are at the center of the school and receive more individualized attention whether they are excellent, average or below average academically. With a more personalized educational experience, student-to-teacher relationships improve allowing teachers to easily identify individual talents and adapt to the learning needs of each student. Additionally, a smaller learning environment reduces stress and improves morale and self-esteem. All of this this leads to academic success and produces HAPPY lifelong learners and leaders who perform well in high school and college.
St. Thecla is a small school by design and offers a rich curriculum, competitive sports programs, and a variety of enrichment courses and clubs. St. Thecla School offers all the amenities of a large school, but with smaller class sizes.
St. Thecla’s tuition includes books, new iPad for 5th graders, language (Spanish), sacramental and graduation fees.

We have never run a parish deficit and have never borrowed any funds from the Archdiocese. Operating cash reserves exist for unforeseen events. Furthermore, we are projecting a parish surplus for the current fiscal year and are budgeting for a surplus for the next fiscal year and beyond.
